Members of Orchidaceae are rendered realistically in three-dimensional space whilst members of the class Insecta inhabit the two-dimensional space of the painting surface.  The blue background is given relief by small patches of colour from the picture's palette. Exhibited at the 149th annual exhibition of the Society of Women Artists, the Mall Galleries, London.
