This work is unique in the portfolio in presenting a single conventional recognisable scene, that of hot air balloons over the Alps.  This is one of a small group of works using the format of a substantial border to frame the work.  The border acts in this case as a window through which we look out onto the scene.  Stillness, quiet and coolness of the air were essential characteristics to be captured.
