Acrylic and pen on handmade paper

1000 x 760

The layers of this painting start with terra cotta coloured card seen through the holes in the embossed handmade paper.  On top of this, through a backdrop of Fucus vesiculosus (Bladder wrack) can be seen the reflection of the moon, a tree and hillside landscapes on a surface suggested by its ripples. Above these hover shells of Stellaria solaris and Bivalvia, some drawn and hatched, some painted. Through a limited palette and the extensive use of brown ink, the whole painting evokes the depth and clarity of the rock pool.
